Quality Advice Program
The Quality Advice Programme has been introduced in order to place appropriate emphasis on what we see as one of the key drivers of growth in the provision of financial services - the quality of the advice offered to clients. Quality of advice is what can differentiate our advisers from others, and having a well-defined standard for quality will enable us to constantly strive to improve our professional position in financial services.
To be in a position to do this, we needed to be more specific about what we mean by "quality advice" so that we all have the same goal in mind when we strive to achieve it. And once we know what it is that we want to achieve, we can measure how close we are now, and what we have to do to bridge any gap.
The Programme involves a defined set of standards for measuring and maintaining quality of advice, and provides my Australian Financial Services Licensee with a formal internal accreditation process for recognising those advisers who meet them.
In order to receive Quality Advice Accreditation, I was required to meet a number of essential criteria in relation to financial planning principles.
Once my Licensee was satisfied that the key criteria were being met, a number of examples of my written advice were assessed against the Quality Advice standards, which were established after consideration of relevant benchmarks identified in the financial services industry.
Ongoing and regular assessment of the quality of advice provided to my clients is also an important element of the Programme.
